Pam Klink, Owner of Turnabout Café, LLC is a professional pastry chef with an A.A. in Baking & Pastry from Baltimore Culinary College, a B.S. in Social Science from University of Maryland University College, and certificates of completion from Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY and The Confectionary Arts Institute. Pam has worked in the pastry departments of several admired venues in Baltimore, Maryland including Polo Grill, Harbor Court Hotel, and The Belmont Conference Center and The Summerhouse in Siesta Key, Florida.
After 20 years creating desserts and wedding cakes for fine dining, she still held onto a long-time dream of having a local coffee shop to sell simple house-baked cakes and pastries. To fulfill her desire to give back to the community was also an important goal for her, so she approached the All Saints vestry with an idea for an outreach project based on her prior hiring practices while running several professional pastry departments in Baltimore. While employed in Baltimore she in turn would hire ex-offenders and train them as bakers. She wished to work with underserved populations in the county, preparing them to pursue the same vocation in Southern Maryland or, in some cases, just receive work experience in general in a patient environment. The original target populations based on her research were single mothers and the developmentally disabled who live in Calvert County and southern Anne Arundel County. Together with Ken Phelps, the rector at All Saints, and members of Broadview Baptist, Pam incorporated Turnabout, Inc. a nonprofit café to realize these goals.
After more than two years as the director/manager of the nonprofit cafe, Pam decided the cafe could be better operated as a Limited Liability Corporation with the same dedication to providing employment opportunities to the underemployed without the constraints of a nonprofit entity. Turnabout, Inc is restructuring their mission and continuing to raise funds to help cover the training of underemployed in the area and is no longer in the café business. Turnabout Café, LLC is a separate legal entity owned solely by Pam Klink.
